Portland, Ore. — C-sert LLC officials say stripped platen bolt holes can be a thing of the past with their line of patented threaded inserts.
Frequent mold changes and production pressures can lead to stripped threads for injection molding machine platens. With C-sert thread repair inserts, the first fix should be the last.
Guaranteed for life, the inserts were designed for heavy industrial applications and are a fail-proof repair solution that should hold tight no matter what the load, according to C-sert President Carl Strom.
"Anyone who has experienced the frustration of stripped threads and faulty repairs can benefit from C-serts," Strom said in a news release. "We designed these products to allow users to make their repair just once and never have to make it again."
The Portland-based company, with manufacturing operations in Los Angeles, will display its line of patented, permanent thread repair inserts at the Injection Molding & Design Expo, scheduled for May 25-26 in Detroit.
Made of through-hardened S7 high-impact tool steel, C-serts come with heavy-duty profile threads that prevent pullouts and backouts. C-serts won't pull out of the hole because they are designed as a tap, with threads around the outside diameter, so they cut their way in to form a tight fit. No separate tap is needed, and the C-serts contain a built-in die to true-up damaged or defective fasteners.
"Our lifetime guarantee is just that, and it covers the entire service life of the user's equipment," Strom said. "It even includes cross-threading and other forms of operator error."
